London quartet Colouring have released the video for their latest track “Heathen”, which is taken from the groups upcoming EP, due out later this summer via Interscope Records.
“Heathen” follows on the heels of Colouring’s debut EP Symmetry, which was released in December. Four out of its five tracks have racked up over 500K streams on Spotify, while the band’s haunting reinvention of Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” has crossed the one million mark. Another track, “Everything Has Grown,” was recently heard on The Vampire Diaries.
“I desperately wanted to work with string players” says Colouring’s singer and chief songwriter Jack Kenworthy, “it was such a cool experience. ‘Heathen’ was inspired by a lot of the Motown and jazz styles that I grew up on. I wanted it to have a groove that wouldn’t feel out of place being heard after a slower hip-hop song, like Kendrick’s ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.’”
The group are currently opening for The 1975 on their ongoing North American tour. Full tour dates below:
