Hungarian quintet FAMINEHILL have made their comeback to the scene after 4 years of silence with a slew of announcements. First up, the band has announced that they’ve joined Famined Records which will release their debut album, Ascend, on April 5th. Lastly, the band dropped their new track “Ruin”, which is accompanied by the official music video.
Blending riffs and aggression reminiscent of Wage War with soothing, full of passion and mesmerizing clean vocals, FAMINEHILL bring to the table a formula that, while not new, it’s certainly well executed. The heavy passages are groovy and head-banging inducing, and the clean vocals deliver quite a punch that, along with the lyrics, might hit close to home for some people. The passion the band has, and how it’s delivered, are what makes them stand out.
Tamás (guitar, clean vocals) gave us a bit more insight on the single: “Ruin is a mixture of anger and bitterness, it’s aggressive but melodic. The song is about losing someone close to you. As we try to overcome grief, anger is one of the many stages of a long and painful process. It is all about dealing with injustice, when a good person passes away too soon and you cannot overcome the fact, specially when people who deserve half the kindness of this world are still thriving, living an easy life, and the ones we hold dearest aren’t here with us anymore.”
