Norway’s Mr Little Jeans (Monica Birkenes) has returned today with her much anticipated new track, “Forgetter”.
With glitchy textures and a slow-building bass line, sonically “Forgetter” is dripping in noir aesthetics, but like a stunning juxtaposition, has been layered with lyrics that bring a sense of hope – “Forgetter” is here to remind you that even after the most brutal of break ups, everything is going to be ok. Birkenes elaborated on the meaning behind the track; “I wrote ‘Forgetter’ after a devastating break-up. I was severely depressed. But once I accepted how toxic the relationship had been, my mental state did a 180, almost overnight. I suddenly felt like I had super powers. ‘Forgetter’ is about this journey and the belief that you will survive a fall — no matter how dark.”
The return of Mr Little Jeans comes 2 years in the making and follows the release of her critically acclaimed 2016 EP, F E V E R S, which saw the now LA based artist play a sold out tour across the United States. Since then, she’s been in and out of the studio, writing and recording her next full length effort.
