Northlane have dropped a brand new video for “Colourwave”, taken off their new album Mesmer, which was released earlier this year. Since Mesmer’s surprise drop in March this year, “Colourwave” has charged ahead to become one of the most popular songs on the album. Thematically, “Colourwave” delves into guitarist Josh Smith’s battle with depression and the darkness his mind created in a world that drips in colour. A therapeutic song for Smith to pen, Northlane worked with their longtime collaborator Jason Eshraghian to bring “Colourwave” to life.
Josh Smith says: “Colourwave has been one of the fan favourite tracks on Mesmer so we felt compelled to shoot a video for it. Our main goal here was to create the most visually stunning clip to date. While the crazy UV paint scenes were the centerpiece here, it had to also tie into the lyrics thematically at the same time. The song is about suffering through mental illness and realising that the negative glass through which you see the world is within your own mind.”
