Electronic musician / composer / producer ESKMO, producer of the score for Netflix’s “Billions” and lead composer for the network’s “13 Reasons Why,” has just completed a remix of Mew’s song “Carry Me To Safety,” the closing track from the award-winning, Danish indie/art/rock band’s most recent album, Visuals (Play It Again Sam). Keeping the original song’s grand, sweeping tone, Eskmo forged a more boisterous track with audacious drums and a cinematic feel.
“Years ago,” said Mew’s Jonas Bjerre, “Eskmo did a remix of our song ‘Vaccine’ from our album ‘No More Stories…’ which he did a great job on. Fast forward to a few months ago… I was watching the TV show ’13 Reasons’ and took notice of the theme song, the strange percussive sounds, like clockwork. It resonated with me and I decided to find out who created it. It turned out to be the very same person, and I reached out to him to see if he would like to re-imagine another Mew song from the new album. Luckily, he was into the idea and chose ‘Carry Me To Safety,’ probably the most challenging song to remix! We’re very happy with the result; eerie and beautiful at the same time.”
