Today marks the first new music from ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) in over a year and a half. Seattle radio stations KEXP and KNDD aired “Line Of Sight (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair)” this morning as well as announced the duo’s upcoming hometown headlining festival performance at Bumbershoot in Seattle. ODESZA released a second surprise track this evening, “Late Night,” with its radio debut via BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.
Both tracks can be heard + purchased here.
Recorded between Seattle, Los Angeles, and Sydney, Australia, “Line Of Sight” is a mesmerizing, uplifting track full of texture and intricacy aided by WYNNE’s lead vocal with backing vocals by Mansionair. Dancing Astronaut called it “a euphoric return,” while Billboard described it as “seriously cinematic,” and Vice Thump said it’s “a meltingly wistful slow-burner, built around a singalong hook.”
“Late Night” is a glittering, cosmically influenced instrumental jam, with a retro bass line, reverberating guitar riff, and a Pacific Northwest feel (also recorded in Seattle).
“We hope both old and new fans will enjoy these as feel-good summer songs,” says Knight on ODESZA’s new releases. “We’ve spent the past couple years constantly re-working our sound, and growing as musicians,” explains Mills of the duo’s recording process between the road and the studio. “This new music reflects us building a grander, more cinematic sound.”
