The Japanese House Unveils New Single “Face Like Thunder”

The Japanese House has returned with a new single “Face Like Thunder,” the first track from her forthcoming third EP Swim Against the Tide, out November 11 via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records.

Premiering on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show last night, “Face Like Thunder” presents The Japanese House’s production at its most sunlit, with a record that despite its seemingly negative subject matter – “I kiss the floor, curled up in a ball / there’s nothing coming out of my month, so I said nothing at all” – sounds at once poignantly sad and contemplative, but also surfacing with what sounds like deep breaths of opportunity.  It’s in a track like this that the dualism Amber’s work is built upon is perhaps at its most present.
